Infrastructure and Support Issues
- Roles of different sources of technical support need to be made more clear to faculty at ISU.
- ISU should support standard, university-wide software for conferencing (software having some of the capabilities of FirstClass, for example), testing (like Mallard or CyberProf), and creation of web pages with possibly some standard class organization software (Like the U of I VCI).
- There should be a dedicated server for these purposes.
- More specialized needs can be addressed at college/dept. levels.
Incentives
ISU should look for innovative incentives for teachers to train for and implement use of technology to improve instruction.
Faculty training
- Centralized ongoing workshops, possibly organized by the Center for the Advancement of Teaching, should be provided for faculty.
- The large-lecture model with many teaching assistants that was common in many of the functionality presentations at the conference will not apply to most settings at ISU.
